We live in the world today, animals are often treated poorly. Some are abandoned on the streets, others are abused or neglected. Sadly, some people do not see the harm in treating animals badly. However, it is important to remember that God sees everything we do, and He cares deeply about how we treat His creation.
God, who created the heavens and the earth, created animals too. In the Bible, we learn that God made all living creatures, from the birds in the sky to the fish in the sea. Animals are not just creatures that are here for our use, but they are part of God's wonderful creation. He created them with care, and He expects us to treat them with the same respect and love that He shows us.
God sees everything. He sees when you are kind and loving, but He also sees when you are cruel and unkind. If you abuse or abandon an animal, God sees that too. It is important to understand that our actions toward animals matter to God. They are not just small or insignificant things in His eyes. How we treat animals shows what is in our hearts, and God knows what is in our hearts.
The Bible teaches that God is all-knowing. This means that He knows everything—nothing is hidden from Him. Psalm 139:2-4 says, "You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely." This shows that God is aware of all our actions, even the ones we may think no one else sees. When we harm animals, God knows, and He cares.
It is important to understand that God does not want us to treat animals cruelly. In fact, the Bible calls us to be kind to all of God's creatures. Proverbs 12:10 says, "The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel." This verse reminds us that caring for animals is a sign of goodness, while cruelty is a sign of wickedness. If we are kind and caring, we reflect the nature of God. If we are cruel, we go against His will.
But what happens when people are cruel to animals? What does God do when He sees us hurting or abandoning the animals He created? The Bible tells us that God is a just judge. He sees all the wrongs that are done, and He will hold people accountable for their actions. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." This means that how we treat the "least" in society, including animals, is seen by God as if we are treating Him that way.
When we treat animals with cruelty, we are not only harming them, but we are also dishonoring God. Heaven is God's throne, and the earth is His footstool. As it says in Isaiah 66:1, "This is what the Lord says: ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?’" The earth belongs to God, and everything on it, including the animals, is part of His creation. When we mistreat His creation, we show disrespect for God's work.
In the Bible, God makes it clear that He cares about justice. Those who harm others, including animals, will face His judgment. In Romans 2:6, the Bible says, "God 'will repay each person according to what they have done.'" This means that no action goes unnoticed by God. Even if no one else sees you harming an animal, God sees it, and He will not let it go without judgment. God's punishment for such cruelty may not come immediately, but it will come in His time.
It is important to remember that God is also merciful. He does not delight in punishing people, but He wants all of us to live in a way that reflects His love and kindness. If you have been cruel to animals in the past, it is not too late to change. God offers forgiveness to those who repent and turn away from their sinful actions. In 1 John 1:9, the Bible says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." If you have hurt animals, ask God for forgiveness, and He will forgive you. He is always ready to forgive those who truly repent and want to change.
God calls us to be His hands and feet on the earth. He asks us to show love, kindness, and care to all of His creation. In Genesis 1:26, God says, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." We have been given the responsibility to take care of the earth and its creatures. When we abuse animals, we are not fulfilling the responsibility God has given us. Instead, we are misusing His creation.
In conclusion, God sees everything. He sees when you are kind, and He sees when you are cruel. When you abandon or abuse animals, He knows, and He cares. Heaven is God's throne, and the earth is His footstool. We are responsible for caring for the animals and the world He created. If we harm His creation, we will be held accountable. However, God is merciful, and He offers forgiveness to those who repent and seek to change. Let us choose to be kind, loving, and responsible stewards of God's creation, treating animals with the respect and care that He expects from us. Remember, how we treat animals is how we treat God’s creation, and He is watching.
